This Sunday morning I found the moon sand in the cupboard i made last year and was pleasantly surprised it is still exactly how i left it when i put it away. Might need to top it up soon but it was still soft and fluffy and mouldable.
Today is dress like mommy day at school. It was a head scratcher as to how we were gonna go about this. then a light bulb went off. My girls love taking photos, therefore the need to dress like mommy when she goes to photoshoots. I always wear white most of the time or gray or black tops to my photoshoots. reason for this is I use myself as a reflector. Lots of people don’t realise but the colour of your clothes reflects onto your subject. Therefore i keep my clothing it very neutral and white reflects lights.
That is why i choose to go with white tops for my girl. I went to the cheapest clothing shop i could find and bought us all white tops. The girls tops are actually boys vests which was even cheaper than t-shirt. the vests were R12 each and my top R40 from PEP. I wanted to show they love photography and I still had some of the Fabric paint in my paint box and started painting on their tops “I Heart Photography” by using my logo. Well at least i tried drawing it. Drawing is not high on my list of skills.
My girls always ask that i put make up on them but we have a rule no make up so today the rule didnt apply as they have to dress like mommy. They were in their element as I mak-up’ed them. Tinker The dog had to feature in some of the Photos.
I just love a school that not only stimulates my kids mentally and physically but also allow my mommy skills to be utilise with all the creative events that they plan. Next event in a few weeks time culture day. Already have my girls outfits ready and waiting 🙂
My daughters dont really have a sense of time yet therefore i always before a trip or a big day i do a count down calender for them. This will be the first roadtrip my eldest will actually remember now that she is 4.5yrs as the last time we did a roadtrip she was 2yrs old. Well my 1.5yr old is oblivious to it all she is just enjoying the actiities that goes with the count down calender.

4 More sleeps to go: Nail painting
We haven’t done nail painting in ages. I decided it was time we did it again. we sat in the garden and i got all types of nail polish and nail art. And eventhough it was not peel off nail polish i let my girls go wild painting their nails.
I did our toes all red and my girlies loved their sparkly red toes.
3 More sleeps to Go: Movie day
We have a couple of movies the girls has not seen. I set up the lounge like a cinema. popped some popcorn and we were good to go.
2 More sleeps to go: TMNT Day
My eldest is obsessed with Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles. So who says girls cant be turtles. And as pizza is my divas favourite thing to eat and ofcourse its the turtles favourite too. What better way than to make a turtle theme pizza lunch.
Today was packing day as its the day before our roadtrip. i did most of the packing but the girles could decide on their favourite shoes and dresses that must go in. Suprisingly i went quite quick an we had the rest of the day free. as we had the rest of the day to our leisure i got out the face painting crayons so my girls could get a bit creative.
Its the day my girls been patiently waiting for. Let the fun begin
A while ago with one of the kiddies meals at a restaurant we got this DIY piggy bank which is actually in a shape of a cow. The girls were bored therefore i got it out and let them paint it. It came with its own paint and brush.
I’m definately keep these paint holders for future use. was nice to not have the girls fighting over sharing paints.
Here is the end result:
I love it…
Christmas time has arrived again and we took out the decorations. Last year we made our own Chalkboard Bauble. This year it was time to enjoy the baubles. I gave each of my girls a few baubles that they could draw on. They had so much fun.
I have been in decorating mode this last few weeks and was looking for something unique to add to each of my girls rooms. As we love crafts i wanted to incorporate our love for crafts but didnt want to do another canvas or non functional item. I wanted something that serves a purpose but still show the creativity. And then i cam across this lampshade post.
I had old lampshades that almost made the trash that day as i replaced it with new ones.I decided to paint the stand white with craft paint. The brush gave the white paint a lovely stripy texture with i prefer over the smooth look. I had to give it about 4-5 coats to complete cover the very dark stand. then painted it with Modge Podge to seal it. The Modge gave it a nice glossy finish.
I then bought very inexpensive white lampshades made of a type of linen material. Gave them to my girls with some fabric paint to match their room decor and let their imaginations go wild. Eldest Diva’s creation:Baby Diva’s creation:We love the end result.and now my girls have a beautiful handmade craft in their rooms.
This past week my diva is into Dr. Seuss books but its too long to finish the whole book in one bedtime story time so each night we read a few pages. We didn’t have any bookmarks so i decided this weekend we will make our own book marks.
My diva photo-bomb the picture. got to love her.
