Popsicle sticks Bookmarks

This past week my diva is into Dr. Seuss books but its too long to finish the whole book in one bedtime story time so each night we read a few pages. We didn’t have any bookmarks so i decided this weekend we will make our own book marks.

I rounded up my craft box and see what we could use.1

My diva photo-bomb the picture. got to love her.

We used hot glue to stick the embellishments on the sticks. They show me where they want to stick it and i put a dab of hot glue down so that they can stick it. 2 3

and here are the end result.. Beautiful book marks.5 6

This one is little Divas bookmark. she choose everything herself to put on her bookmark i just guided here where to put it with putting the hot glue in place.4

Popsicle Stick Puzzle

With our Puzzle Teaparty I made these DIY popsicle stick puzzles but we never gotten around to building them. 5My little Diva is sickies today but by no means quiet and peaceful so i had to keep her busy and gave her this puzzle. Its a printed photo hot glued on Popsicle sticks and then i cut between the sticks to make the puzzle.3

she had loads of fun though never got close to re-arranging the puzzle but big fun non the less.1 2

Puzzle Tea party

We have started a reward system where my Diva had to do chores and collect gold coins for each chore. At the end of the week  we tally all the coins. I have a reward box with all sorts of things like necklaces, puzzles, etc i try to keep as close to the price i bought it for. So she then “pay” for the reward with her coins. This sometimes means she has to save a week or 2 to get a big ticket reward.

Last month she  wanted the Monster High floor size puzzle and had to save 2-3 weeks coins. And when I knew she would have the full amount for it I decided to throw a puzzle tea party.  Where everything will be puzzle related.

16I ordered puzzle biscuits from Mmm Macaron. She made hearts , Teacups, teapots and teaspoons.

puzzle biscuitsMy girls love strawberries so that was a must.1The days leading up to the Tea party I printed a puzzle template. I asked the girls to colour it in so i can cut it out and use it as decoration.217I also had our play tea party cakes out.4I told my diva she can invite 3 bear friends, she choose Lala, Mr Cuddles & Purple Poweration. so while i was setting up she dressed herself and her friends for the occasion.

18I had a few activities before getting to the big one.

1. Blank Puzzles. My divas could make there own puzzles buy drawing their own pictures on. Though i will have to get something like permanent markers as the surface wasnt crayon friendly.672. Puzzles. I just gathered up a few of their puzzles for them to pick and choose from.

83. Popsicle stick Puzzles. I printed photos of my divas hot glue them to Popsicle sticks and then cut it up.5The for the main event, she had to count out her coins and “pay” for the Monster High Puzzle.

19Then the fun and games began putting this big puzzle together.

Easter Egg hunt

Its easter time and this year is the first year that i’m doing the egg hunt with my girls. So i really wanted to give them a great experience.. I saw these bunny baskets on pinterest and asked a friend, Natalie Kukard that is very good with sewing to make it for us. and she did a brilliant job. My eldest favourite colour is purple so her basket accessories were purple and my little diva is pink. Though she is too young to take part this year i thought i make it so they can have the same when she actually is old enough to take part. 1

I woke at the crack of dawn to set everything up for the girls. I made a card for them explaining what the “bunny” did (hiding eggs around the garden. and he left 2 special bunny friends  to help them look.01 2I also made a “dora the explorer ” type map for my 4yr old to follow. Carport, garden, Through the gate & playhouse. i encorporated the map as we will be having a Dora the explorer party in a few weeks time. So it is a nice exercise to make her get use to the map reading as im also planning on doing a map hunt at the party.5Then it was off to the hunt. I bought a few chocolate eggs but most of it is plastic eggs filled with non chocolate goodies like mini chocoloate chip cookes, Animal crackers, Dry wors, Mini bubbles, Bracelets and other trinkets. I also put on pink and purple tags on the eggs. Pink was for little diva and purple tags for big diva. So when my 4yr old found eggs she immediately knew which one was hers and which one she had to give to her sister.4 I even found a Dora egg 🙂

6And when everything was done she was very happy with her stash 7

Little Diva was also very excited. guess she was feeding off the excitement of big sister.8 9then it was time to taste. We found out toay that little diva is not a fan of the chocolate. she much rather preferred the salty treats we put in the plastic eggs. All in all it was a very exciting day. all my hard work and effort paid off in the end. So satisfying to see the joy in my kids faces.

DIY Wrapping paper

I know i have posted about our wrapping paper tradition. But what makes this special is the fact that my youngest has now started to join in the fun. Looking forward to many more wrapping paper decorating with both my girls. Tomorrow is the school’s birthday and we were asked to buy CD’s as presents for the school. We did hand prints for the wrapping paper today.

Sensory box

My little diva has gotten very interactive and I started looking for activities to do so came across the sensory box idea. I got all the scraps from my craft boxIMG_3233

I got pom poms, lettering ( to spell my divas name) a wooden heart, different texture material flowers, piece of a face cloth, a cut out of a butterfly made out of cardboard, a piece of ribbon a rock from the garden ( I gave it a good scrub) and a piece of foil from a chips packed.

I paste these with craft glue and let dry for almost a whole day to ensure the glue has dried properly and wont come off during play. IMG_3317

then the true test to see if my little diva will like it.November 2013

and its a hit she was fascinated with all the textures. she sat occupied with it long enough for me to do the dishes 🙂
