From the time i have been introduced to baby wraps i have been wearing my kids. my first daughter i used the wrap till she waswell over 1. was such a bonding experience. And now I am loving it with my second. I am a baby wearing momma and proud of it.
I haven’t done any crafts of late as my 2 divas has kept me so busy, especially diva². i cant remember it being this hard with my first diva. But anyways here are some random photos of my divas.
Daddy and his girls Diva 1 loves to go check up on Diva² when she is sleeping.Diva 1 is such a great big sister and loves giving Diva² kisses when she is drinking her milk.Just a little tit bit. both my girls left hands looks exactly the same as mine. the lines on the hands looks like an “M”. and both their names start with an M.
I’m not on a die hard Breastfeeding mission. but just wanna atleast try everything possible to see if i cant make breastfeeding work. its still a constant struggle everyday to get my diva² full on my milk. Some one suggested lactation cookies. and i thought why not cant hurt to try. so off i went yesterday to buy the ingredients. and between naps i attempted this recipe
- 1 cup butter or margarine (for a healthier option, use coconut oil instead which is super good for you!)
- 1 & 1/2 cups brown sugar (if wanting to reduce sugar, you could try just 1 cup)
- 4 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal (can be found at any local health food store)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (optional, for flavour)
- 2 cups plain flour (for a healthier option, try substituting with coconut flour, either half or all)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
- 1 cup or more chocolate chips/sultanas/almonds/macadamia nuts (optional, whatever takes your fancy)
- 2-4 tablespoons of brewers yeast (this is the magic ingredient – not to be confused with bakers yeast or any other yeast)
How to make:
Lactation Cookies Recipe – Method
Preparation time is around 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180C.
- Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes.
- Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well.
- Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended.
- Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips.
- Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips.
- Scoop or drop onto a greased or lined baking tray. Because the dough is a little crumbly, it might be easier if you use a scoop.
Bake for 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.
Our members have made variations to this recipe by using these delicious combinations:
- Coconut and banana
- Choc chip and cranberry
- Dried apricot and white chocolate
- Apple cinnamon: 1 tsp cinnamon instead of vanilla, 1/2 cup chopped dried apple and 1/2 cup sultanas. BellyBelly member audux also added 2 tbsp stewed apple to experiment and found the cookies to turn out lovely and moist.
- For a healthier cookie, substitute some or all of the butter for virgin coconut oil which is SO good for your body (inside and out) with a mountain of benefits, including anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. Choose an organic oil if you can. Virgin coconut oil is best – avoid the refined/blended products for best results. Coconut oil is surprisingly in solid form and not an oil, but this is normal. The brewers yeast is a bit rough on the palette but the cookie itself is quite tasty. Its suggested to take 2 everytime u breastfeed. Will see if this recipe does anything for my supply. if not then atleast i have a moderately healthy snack to munch on during the day.
