Photo challange: Close up

A few moms on my Baby forum has decided to do a photo challange. Though my life is too busy to participate everyday of the week. I decided to do the challange over weekends and public holidays. Yesterday was a public holiday and the challange for the day was “Close-up”. I was fortunate to have been booked to be a photographer at a all ladies High tea as it was Womans Day. And there were just so many pretty dainty things for me too do my close up for the day on. Though for the challange i choose…

Though i still have lots of other favourites too

I have never thought myself to be a still life Photographer but i actually enjoyed the close up assignment very much.

Story Time

I have recently decided that its time to take me being in the photos into my own hands after reading a post called “Because you were there too” .I have 1000’s of photos of my diva and her dad. but a hand full with me actually in the shot. I do crafts with her so often but not one photo of us doing the crafts together.

So i think its time for a change. I do not have a bucket list but this is definately an item for a bucket list. INCLUDE MYSELF IN MORE PHOTOS WITH MY DIVA, BECAUSE I WAS THERE, TOO.

So with this in mind i set up the tripod and took some photos of story time before bedtime with my diva. My dh kinda felt sorry for all the running up and down. ( note to self: Invest in a remote shutter release) And he took the camera and started taking photos of us.

Every night after Bath time i give her the choice to go choose a book. She is a very fussy girl. I use to stand about . I will stand there and ask “this one” for about 5min at the bookshelve, showing her book after book and she would just tell me “no mommy”. so decided that she can go and choose her own book which is working out well. This night she choose “The very hungry caterpillar”.

This weekend I decided to do a DIY with a difference. I wanted to have a little Spa day with my little diva. So i went hunting for peel off cutex as my diva loves to try and help me when i put cutex on. I then made home made facials and scrubs as the chances of it landing in my divas mouth is very high, and we wouldnt want it to be non edible. so to cover all bases i made a avo mask for the face and a brown sugar and honey scrub for the hands.

AVO Mask

  • Very Ripe Avo
  • Oatmeal
  • Fresh Cream
  • Honey

Mash all ingredients together

Brown Sugar Scrub

  • Brown Sugar
  • Honey
  • Olive oil

Mix all ingredients together

We started off with the Avo mask. She was a bit hesitant to put this on as it was her first facial ever. So I had to show her That i put it on my face before she allowed me to put it on for her.

Then while the Mask was drying I started with cutting nails and applying the hand scrub. Preparing for what i knew was going to lots of fun. The applying cutex.

And the end result…

And then she had so much fun peeling off the cutex when we were all done.

So there you have it.. Our very first Mini Spa Afternoon.

Note: Just a special thanks to my DH for jumping in and helping to take photos of my in the spa day
